The ascendency of India as an economic world power

India is going to play against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka very soon. In fact, India will play three test matches in the test series against Sri Lanka. Ajanta Mendis has become a real threat for India. I think that Ajanta Mendis could have been able to do what Muttiah Muralitharan could not do. In fact, Muttiah Muralitharan could never threaten Indian batsmen in the way Ajanta Mendis could do in Asia Cup 2008.

Indian Captain Anil Kumble is confident that the batsmen can face Ajanta Mendis confidently and India can do well in the test series. However, much depends on how Indian batsmen can handle the spinner. It is interesting for me to note that this is perhaps the first time Indian batsmen are giving so much importance to a spin bowler of another country. Indian batsmen never suffered by Muralitharan and Shane Warne. It is time that they face Ajanta Mendis bravely.
