
After reaching the second round of East West Bank Classic singles, Sania Mirza along with American partner Bethanie Mattek roared past the American-Russian pair Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva in the doubles first round. Sania-Mattek pair got into the second round in doubles after clinching an emphatic straight-set victory over King-Kudryavtseva pair.
Sania-Mattek is the second seed at the ongoing $600,000 East West Bank Classic doubles and definitely the pair is one of the favorites in the tournament. So, the 6-3, 6-4 first round victory will definitely boost up their confidence level. The pair reached the quarter final of Wimbledon 2008 recently before falling to the eventual champion Williams sisters.
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza will face Chinese Meng Yuan in singles second round. The star saw off Czech qualifier Eva Hrdinova in the first round. Sania Mirza has not been at her best since returning to circuit following a wrist injury that forced her to miss the entire clay court season.
