
Rafael Nadal clinched his first ever Australian Open title defeating his arch-rival, world no. 2 Roger Federer in a five-set thriller at the final of Australian Open 2009 today. It took Nadal over 4 and half hours to defeat Federer 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2. Displaying some of his great skill, Nadal played superbly against Federer who were looking to clinch his 14th grand slam title, leveling Pete Sampras’ record 14 grand slam titles.
