The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Rafael Nadal clinched his first ever Australian Open title defeating his arch-rival, world no. 2 Roger Federer in a five-set thriller at the final of Australian Open 2009 today. It took Nadal over 4 and half hours to defeat Federer 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2. Displaying some of his great skill, Nadal played superbly against Federer who were looking to clinch his 14^th grand slam title, leveling Pete Sampras’ record 14 grand slam titles.

With this victory, Rafael Nadal has won his sixth grand slam title. Now, Nadal has Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon titles to his credit. That means US Open is the only grand slam tournament that the Spaniard is yet to conquer. For Federer, his next grand slam mission will be in French Open, where Nadal is the defending champion for four successive years. Now, let us see if Federer can break Nadal’s dominance over world tennis in French Open 2009.
