The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Economic recession is getting aggravated day by day and Bollywood, the Hindi cinema industry in India, is now facing huge trouble because of recession. Front line stars like Akshay Kumar have cut down their acting fess significantly. For instant, Akshay Kumar is currently asking for about Rs 33 crore per movie, a sharp fall from Rs 75 crore, an amount he took in 2008.

The situation got aggravated due to the recent stand off between Bollywood producers and multiplex owners and the combined loss for both parties due to that dispute is more than Rs 350 crore. Movie producers are now finding it difficult to sell their movies at expected rate. Producers of many star-studded movies like London Dreams, which stars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, and Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites are struggling to get the amount it was once expected.

Overall, the whole industry is going through a tough time. Another problem is that many low-budget movies are failing in the industry because many star-studded big budget movies are getting released almost at the same time following the two-month-long dispute between producers and multiplex owners.
