
The 55th National Film Awards for 2007 in
Gandhi My Father, produced by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, bagged three awards: Best Screenplay for Feroz Abbas, Best Supporting Actor for Darshan Jariwala and Special Jury Award. Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par was also awarded three awards: Best Male Playback Singer for Shankar Mahadevan, Best Lyrics for Prasoon Joshi and Best Film on Family Welfare.
Best Film (Overall Entertainment) was awarded to Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De India and Sabu Cyril won the Best Art Direction award for his work in the movie Om Shanti Om. The Last Lear, directed by Rituparno Ghosh, was awarded the Best Feature Film in English and Best Supporting Actress (for Shreya Ghoshal) awards.
